Marks and Spencer Business Ethics - 1863 Words
Task 1 P2 and Task 2 D1 (Unit 38) In this task 1 P2, I have been asked to explain the implications for Mamp;S and its stakeholders of the business operating ethically. For task 2 D1, I have been asked by using example, to evaluate the effects (consequences) of Mamp;S ethical behaviour on stakeholders and the business. Mamp;S does the right thing for their shareholders, customers, suppliers, colleagues, environment and their local communities. Their ethics outlines the behaviour that it holds as a business and conduct the organisation with the highest standards of honesty. The ethics code of Mamp;S describes the company policy and procedures which reminds them of behaviours that are unacceptable. They have the responsibly to current and future generation to use natural resources in a responsible manner to prevent unnecessary pollution. Mamp;S has to keep in mind about the government. They must follow the entire legal obligation and make sure they would not affect it. Mamp;S has to inform the government that their policy on products meets their legislation and is not affecting the environment and the community. Implications of operating ethically Influence of stakeholders and pressure groups Marks amp; Spencerââ¬â¢s pressure groups and stakeholders can influence their business as they are important when it come to an environmental issue. Pressure groups make the community aware of the issues and can attract the media and the governmentââ¬â¢s attention as they take the publicââ¬â¢s opinion. Therefore it is important for Mamp;S to take their opinion serious and respect them and to take care of their public image as they do not want any impact on their business image and reputation. Ethical trading Marks amp; Spencer believes that their customers have the right to expect that their products will provide them good quality and value for money without using the people who work for their suppliers.
